For
those of you who are hearing about noni for the first time, it
may surprise you to learn that there has been research conducted
on Morinda citrifolia around the world since the 1920's!
Despite the fact that the research showed it had beneficial
properties, it was not pursued and went largely unnoticed by most of
the world.

However,
it wasn't until 1953 that Dr. Ralph Heinicke, PhD, a renowned scientist and biochemist,
began the important research that would lead to the
discovery of the beneficial attributes of Morinda citrifolia. |

His extensive
research with Dole Pineapple and the University of Hawaii on
pineapple enzymes led to the discovery of an important alkaloid
found to be essential to proper cell function and sustained health. |
Dr. Heinicke
named this alkaloid "Xeronine" (pronounced zero-neen). He
named the pre-cursor to Xeronine, Proxeronine, and the enzyme
Proxeroninase.
While Xeronine
occurs naturally in all plants and animals, it requires Proxeronine
as part of the process. When Proxeronine is consumed, it
combines with an enzyme called Proxeroninase in the intestine and

According to Dr.
Heinicke, when proteins combine with Xeronine, the combination
becomes a powerful tools that produces energy and sends chemical
signals between cells for proper healthy cell growth and
maintenance.
However,
Proxeronine has become less available due to depleted soils,
over-processing of foods, and unhealthy diets. Many of the
important micronutrients needed for the biosynthesis of Xeronine in
the body have been lost. This is where Morinda citrifolia
caught his interest. Of all the substances he tested, it had
the highest levels of Proxeronine.
Dr. Heinicke's
findings intrigued him and prompted him to conduct further studies
on this unique fruit. However, it wasn't until 1972 that Dr.
Heinicke discovered specific compounds in the Morinda citrifolia
fruit that could have an impact on the body.
This research
went relatively unnoticed until John Wadsworth and Stephen Story
began their own research after hearing amazing stories about a fruit
from French Polynesia. So all those years later, Dr. Heinicke's research would now be revealed
as the
key that unlocked the secrets of this unique and amazing fruit!
